Quest | Commercial Dehumidifiers

Quest is the world leader in dehumidifiers and their powerful units are a standard fixture in almost every commercial cultivation facility in the US, Canada and Europe. Quest manufactures a full line of the most energy-efficient commercial-grade dehumidifiers on the market. Quest is a division of Therma-Stor LLC, which builds quality, energy-efficient dehumidification equipment designed to perform in commercial environments. Quest has the solution for any indoor gardening application. Quest dehumidifiers are the most energy efficient on the market, using the least electricity, and removing the most pints of water per kWh over the widest temperature range. Quest’s innovative designs add minimal heat load to your HVAC. A Quest dehumidifier pays for itself in energy savings while naturally helping to prevent pests, mould, mildew, and disease, allowing our users to eliminate pesticides during growing. Quest is manufactured in the USA to high performance and electrical safety standards (ETL Listed/UL Certified).

We, at Hydro Experts, stock a wide range of Quest Dehumidifiers such as the Quest 70 Overhead dehumidifier, Quest Dual 155 Overhead dehumidifier, Quest 706 Overhead dehumidifier, and Quest F9 Air Mover which is perfect for air circulation.

Q: What is Relative Humidity?

A: Relative humidity, often abbreviated as RH, indicates the proportion of water in the air relative to its maximum capacity before condensation occurs, leading to the formation of droplets. When RH reaches 100%, the air is fully saturated, typically resulting in precipitation.

Q: What is Dew Point?

A: Dew point signifies the temperature at which air must be cooled to a point where it can no longer retain all the moisture in vapour form. When air reaches its dew point, condensation occurs.

Q: How Does a Refrigerant Dehumidifier Operate?

A: A refrigerant dehumidifier functions by directing air over a chilled evaporator coil, causing moisture to condense as the coil's temperature falls below the air's dew point. Refrigerant dehumidifiers work most effectively when the dew point is above freezing, allowing condensation to form without freezing.

Q: What Should I Target for Relative Humidity?

A: In commercial settings, the ideal relative humidity target is often determined by specific processes, applications, or environmental requirements. For example, a glass manufacturer may require extremely low humidity, such as 10%, while a baker might aim for 65% to preserve product moisture. Generally, for mould prevention and optimal comfort, a relative humidity range of 50-60% is advisable.

Q: Why Do I Need a Dehumidifier if I Have Air Conditioning (A/C)?

A: While A/C naturally removes humidity as it cools the air, it may not do so efficiently. Additionally, excessive cooling can lead to increased humidity due to reduced air's moisture-holding capacity. Therefore, although A/C removes some moisture during cooling, it can raise relative humidity levels in a space.

Q: Should I Use Reheating After A/C to Dehumidify?

A: When you reheat air after A/C, it doubles the energy consumption, resulting in the removal of approximately ½ to 1 pint of moisture per kilowatt-hour (kwh). Quest dehumidifiers, on the other hand, can remove up to 8 pints of moisture per kwh, offering significant energy efficiency and cost savings. When there is a natural heat load driving the temperature above the desired level, it's best to let the A/C handle cooling, considering dehumidification separately to avoid energy waste.
